Alpine sport climbing locality “Matka” is located in the
there you take the minibus n.60. The minibus departs every 100 minutes from Saraj village. By car you can come to the parking place above the kayak path and you continue to the mountain house “Matka”. There is a good path of 10 minute walk to get there from the parking place, the last bus stop.
You can find accommodation in the mountain house “Matka”, which is open throughout the year, and it is located on the coast of the artificial lake. The house offers about 50 beds. There is a possibility for restaurant food as well. You can camp with tents mainly on two places: in the yard of above the mountain house “Matka” and in the yard of the monastery Ss. Nikola Sisevski, located on the opposite side of the lake. Camping in the monastery Ss. Nikola Sisevski is free.
Alpine and sport climbing routes are on the rocks on both sides of the canyon, with a reservoir and an artificial lake. By its composition, the rock is a limestone with additives and is characterized with moderate compactness, but quite crumble on certain parts. Attention! In the spring there are bug rockfalls! Alpine and sport climbing routes are divided into several sectors: “Otmarova Karpa”, “K (Klin)”, “Centrala”, “Pier”, “Mountain house Matka”, “Matino Trlo”, and “Iglite na Matka”. You can climb Matka throughout the whole year. The best climbing period is from March till June and from September till November, which doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy in the pleasant spring temperatures in some sectors.
