DEMIR KAPIJA        

          Alpine sport climbing locality “Demir Kapija” is located in the central region of Macedonia, at 100 km from Skopje. On the freeway E-75, Skopje-Gevgelija, there is a rock on the river side of Vardar. The simplest way to reach the climbing routes is from the parking place between the two tunnels. Downstream on the river Celevecka, there are about 10 alpine routes, and here you can find the most of the sport routes divided into sectors. On the parking and around it there are several alpine routes. Down the river Celevecka and its mouth into the river Vardar, at about 100 metres from the tunnels, we move to the right, on via ferrata and cables over the river Vardar and after a hundred meters, we come to the well known 25 or so, alpine routes. There are other points to reach this part, but they are a little more complicated. The composition of the rock is pure limestone, with excellent compactness, but on some points, crumbly. The possibility for security on the rock is great, it provides use of bolts, nuts, friends, almost everything, but most of the routes are secured with alpine bolts, and expansion bolts on the berth. The height of the alpine routes is 100 to 300 meters.

          The best accommodation is in tents, on the side of the river Vardar, and the best period for climbing is from March till June and September till November.
